Why I will always love UPSA

As a student writer, one of the key things I pay attention to is observing everything around me and finding ways to express those observations through my writing. Over the years, I have come to realize that the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA) is not just an educational institution; it is a home filled with opportunities, lifelong friendships, and experiences that shape students into better versions of themselves. One of the little things I admire most about UPSA is the birthday email sent to students every year. It may seem like a small gesture, but it carries a powerful message: "You are seen, you are recognized, and you matter." Considering the thousands of students on campus, each with different identities and backgrounds, the fact that systems are intentionally put in place to celebrate students on their special day reflects a culture of care and thoughtfulness. Another aspect of UPSA that deserves recognition is its commitment to professionalism. I often hear students from other institutions make comments about our dress code, and honestly, I find it disappointing because it overlooks the reality of the professional world. UPSA goes beyond simply educating students academically; it prepares us for life after graduation. By encouraging professional dress, the university helps students develop habits and standards that will benefit them in their careers and personal lives. Beyond academics and appearance, UPSA provides an environment where students can build meaningful relationships. Some of the friendships formed here will last far beyond graduation. The campus creates opportunities for students to collaborate, learn from one another, and grow together through both successes and challenges. What I admire most is the culture of excellence that runs through the institution. UPSA constantly encourages students to strive for more, think critically, and conduct themselves with integrity. These values are not only taught in lecture halls but are reflected in the everyday life of the university community. Of course, no institution is perfect. Like every university, UPSA faces criticism and is sometimes the subject of rumours and misinformation. However, being a student here has allowed me to see the reality beyond the stories. I have experienced first-hand the standards, discipline, and opportunities that make UPSA unique, and I believe those qualities speak for themselves. If there is one thing I know for certain, it is that UPSA has left a lasting impact on my life. Every day, I learn something new, not only from my lecturers but also from my peers, my experiences, and the environment around me. And if life gave me another chance, I would gladly choose UPSA again because it is more than a university to me; it is a place that continues to shape my future and inspire my dreams.
