UPSA ISAP Forum Calls for Research That Serves National Development

The Information Systems Academics and Practitioners (ISAP) Forum 2026 was held at the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA) on Wednesday, 7 October 2026, bringing together academics, industry leaders and public-sector stakeholders.
Delivering the keynote address, UPSA Pro Vice Chancellor, Prof. Emmanuel S. Asamoah, called for research that addresses real national challenges and contributes to Ghana’s development.
Dr. Fred Bedzrah of the National Identification Authority (NIA) stressed that the success of Ghana’s national identification system should not be measured by registration figures alone, but by its ability to help citizens access services and participate fully in economic and civic life.
Dean of FITCS, Rev. Prof. Ing. Godfred Koi-Akrofi, also urged researchers to translate their findings into practical solutions for policy and institutional development.
The forum, organised by the Faculty of Information Technology and Communication Studies (FITCS), provided a platform for dialogue on leveraging public-sector information systems to support Ghana’s socioeconomic development.
