1,568 lawyers called to the Bar today

A total of 1,568 law graduates were called to the Ghana Bar on Friday, October 9, 2026, at a ceremony organised by the General Legal Council in Accra. The ceremony marked the formal admission of the graduates into the legal profession after completing the required professional legal training and examinations.
The ceremony took place at the ICGC Christ Temple East along Bush Road, Teshie, Accra. The annual event marked an important milestone for the newly qualified lawyers, who gained the professional status required to practice law in Ghana. The General Legal Council oversees the regulation of legal education and the legal profession in the country.
Among the prominent personalities called to the Bar were Samuel Nartey George, Minister for Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations; Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, Minister for Land Natural Resources; and broadcast journalist Umaru Sanda Amadu Their inclusion among the expected candidates drew attention to the diverse professional backgrounds represented in the cohort.
